DC Alexander Park is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant, beautiful, and welcoming spot for locals and visitors alike. Nestled between Seabreeze Boulevard and A1A just south of SE 5th Street, the 1.2-acre oceanfront park is in an ideal location just across the street from the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center.
The $9.6 million renovation project at D.C. Alexander Park began in early 2023 following a unanimous vote from Fort Lauderdale’s City Commission to hire Shiff Construction & Development Inc. to lead the project.
The park, previously a low-profile green space with palm trees and a small parking lot, is being brought to life with improvements that include an elevated section offering views overlooking the ocean, a new playground, improved lighting for pedestrians, and other features that add to the beauty of our world-class city. The famed Whispering Giant sculpture will be preserved and lush landscaping will bring new energy to the area.
The new vision for DC Alexander Park is part of the City’s effort to build a healthy and engaging community while improving access to and enjoyment of our beach, waterways, parks, and open spaces for everyone. Fort Lauderdale is proud to be a community with high-quality parks and recreational facilities that highlight the character of our city.
