The City of Fort Lauderdale is committed to increasing the availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at City parking facilities. Currently, there are 11 charging stations where vehicles can be charged during a paid parking session at no additional cost, including six at the Las Olas Garage, one at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, and two on the first floor of both the Riverwalk Garage and the Arts & Science District Garage. These are all Level 2 charging stations, which have a higher energy output and can provide about 25 miles of range per hour.
During fiscal year 2024, we’re investing $150,000 to continue to expand our charging infrastructure. The Sustainability Division of the City’s Public Works Department is working closely with the City’s Transportation and Mobility Department to monitor industry trends and identify additional funding opportunities to increase the number of charging stations throughout Fort Lauderdale.
