The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with our neighbors and stakeholders to enhance safety and mobility for all who access Las Olas Boulevard to live, work, and play. The Las Olas Vision and Mobility project is exploring ways to improve the corridor from S. Andrews Avenue to A1A on the beach. The project is designed to improve and expand sidewalks, improve pedestrian safety, and enhance landscaping across five distinct neighborhoods: Downtown, the Shops District, the Colee Hammock neighborhood, Las Olas Isles, and the beach.

The project team has been conducting meetings with different groups of neighbors and stakeholders to provide information and updates and receive feedback. The team also met with the City's Public Works and Sustainability Departments to understand the needs of stormwater, sea level rise, and other utilities for the corridor.

In September 2023, the City Commission heard a presentation about the project, with city staff seeking input regarding the use of existing funds and guidance to better understand what components of the Las Olas Master Plan to include in the design. The Commission provided direction to move forward to the design phase for the west corridor and to provide two initial design concepts for the Shops portion (one concept as illustrated in the Master Plan and one
concept that retains the median and removes the parking lane). Staff began to explore adding bike lane facilities in the downtown section from Andrews Avenue to 3rd Avenue.
