Water Treatment Plant
The City of Fort Lauderdale is committed to the delivery of clear, safe potable water to all Fort Lauderdale residents, businesses, and customers from surrounding municipalities now and in the future. To this end, the City is advancing efforts to replace the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant with the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center, a new, state-of-the-art facility, under a comprehensive agreement with the IDE-Ridgewood Project Team (Project Company).
The new plant, which is expected to be completed in 2026 with an approximate cost of $666 million including enabling works, will deliver clear, clean water and is designed to withstand the winds of a Category 5 hurricane.
The City will maintain ownership of the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center throughout construction and the following 30-year operational period with Project Company responsible for on-site operational management, maintenance and repairs. The City will coordinate operation within the water distribution system and City staff will operate the plant in partnership with on-site technical and operational resources from Project Company.
